The Columbia Music Festival Association will be presenting Cody Unkart: New Works. The paintings shown in the CMFA ArtSpace depict intimate spaces that the artist visits daily, including views of his neighborhood in the West Columbia Mill Village, Cayce Riverwalk, Congaree Vista, and the paths that connect them. Each painting emphasizes glimpses of fleeting light and shadows, rhythmic variations in architecture and nature, and quiet moments of contemplation and solitude. On his artistic practice Unkart notes: “Painting from observation allows me to slow down and be present; to notice and emphasize the infinite beauty and liveliness of ordinary surroundings.” In conjunction with Artista Vista, this will be the first time these works will be shown publicly.
